After 67 years, Home D Pizzeria announced on Friday that it would permanently close its South Atherton Street location by the end of the month.
A post on Home D Pizzeria ‘s Facebook page said they were hoping to rent the back of the restaurant to another company, but those needs have recently changed.
âAs we closed the deals in the past few weeks, the demand increased and they needed and rented the entire building. That ends an amazing run we have had for the last six decades serving the state college community, âthe post reads.
It is not immediately clear which companies will take over the building. However, the location of the restaurant in Bellefonte, the Robin Hood Brewing Company, will remain open as usual, according to the post.
âWe would like to thank all of our current employees who have served us and our customers like family over the years. We couldn’t have asked for better employees. After the last year and a half that the restaurants and their staff have just had, this makes the news even more difficult, âthe post reads.
The post included several comments from customers and past employees who shared memories and how sad they were to see it so close.
âWe’re going to miss our last soccer game and seeing the State College band late at night after a game for our famous pizza specials, and we’ll miss all of you! Thank you for helping us to become part of such a strong community and for helping us create memories that will last forever, âthe post says.
Home D’s last business day is June 27th.
