MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City government closed three restobars on Friday that allegedly violated COVID-19 protocols.
The Batcave Food / Music Bar along Visayas Avenue, the Karma Lounge in the Tomas Morato Extension and the Guilly’s Island Restaurant and Bar on the corner of Tomas Morato Avenue and Scout Albano were ordered closed.
Brig. General Antonio Yarra, director of Quezon City Police District, said QCPD staff and staff from the city’s business permits and licenses department have found the facilities are in violation of the local government’s memorandum of general community quarantine guidelines.
Yarra said 39 people were arrested on Guilly’s Island for not wearing face masks and shields. They also failed to adhere to physical distancing protocols.
The Restobar also violated the city ordinance on the sale of spirits and operated with an expired business license.
The violators were released after receiving receipts for violating regulations.
“The closure of three resto-bars and the issuing of receipts for violations of regulations to 39 violators are clear signs that they are deliberately violating the protocols of the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) and the regulations of Quezon City, “Yarra said in a statement.
