Last week, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) special command took tough measures against six restaurants and bars in Belapur and Koparkhairane for operating after 10 p.m., clearly in violation of COVID-19 guidelines. According to the guidelines of the state government and the local authorities, all restaurants and bars are only allowed to be open until 10 p.m.

‘Rain Forest Resto-Bar’ in Sector 11 in Belapur and ‘Manisha Bar and Restaurant’ in Sector 15 in Belapur were found operating after 10pm on September 22nd. The ‘Metro Bar’ in Sector 15 in Koparkhairane was also found open. The Sonderkommando fined all three restaurants and bars a fine of 50,000 rupees for violating COVID-19 norms.

The Sonderkommando previously had “Live It Up Restaurant and Bar” in Sector 19 D in Vashi, “Mayur Restaurant and Bar” in Sector 5 in Koparkhairane and “Bigg Boss” Bar in Sector 11 in CBD Belapur for operating until 11pm with a fine proven.

“Since this was their first offense, they were fined Rs 50,000. If the second time it is found that they are violating them, their bar and restaurant will be closed for 7 days, ”said a senior ombudsman. He added that if they continue violating them, their facility will be closed until the COVID pandemic ends.

Since August 10, 2020, the special troops have been collecting Rs. as fines from citizens and institutions for violating COVID norms in the city.

Although the NMMC is aggressively vaccinating people against COVID-19 to prevent a possible third wave of COVID, the citizenry has urged citizens to strictly adhere to COVID-19 norms such as wearing masks, maintaining social distance and that Keeping hands clean.
