Albion Man is said to have sold stolen catalytic converter


An Orleans County man has been arrested and charged with theft after allegedly selling stolen property to a junkyard.

In a written press release, New York State Police say officers are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter from a truck parked at an address on West Lee Road in the town of Barre, New York. Barre is between Buffalo and Rochester.

During their investigation, officers discovered that 31-year-old Joshua A. Grosskopf of Albion, New York, had possession of the catalytic converter and then sold it to a Metalico-operated scrapyard.

The NYSP located and arrested Grosskopf on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Grosskopf was charged with a fifth-degree criminal offense of possession of stolen property.

After processing, Grosskopf was released and given an admission ticket. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Barre Town Court in July 2022.
