LET humility reign and not sow disorderly when in entertainment houses, especially when intoxicated, lest chaos that will lead to crime be prevented.

This is the advice of a bar-goer, Daniel Jopson, 23, of Gulfview, Davao City, after a bloody incident at a bar on Camus Street on July 2 resulted in the death.

Jopson said it’s important to remember that we only have one life, so let’s not create chaos.

“Kung naay mga kasamok between sa duha ka partys (When two parties fight), let the authority pacify the police, kasi like nun taasan ng pride ang both parties, talagang delikado (because, as in this incident, both parties held on their Proud, it was very dangerous)” said the 23-year-old.

He added that before entering a bar, guests should know the regulations and prohibitions, especially if they are already drunk.

He also advised that lawmakers in the city should enact an ordinance governing bar policy and that bar owners should be penalized if they fail to implement it.

It is recalled that a 21-year-old from Bacaca Road, Barangay 19-B, Davao City was killed after being shot dead by a 31-year-old doctor after they appeared in a heated argument outside a bar.

Even when police were in the area of the incident, according to San Pedro Police Station commander PMaj. Benkalin Baluan, during an interview with dxDC RMN Davao, they were unable to prevent the incident because the event happened so quickly that the suspect drew his gun and allegedly shot the victim quickly several times.

The Davao City Police Department (DCPO) immediately released a statement on the incident.

“We are saddened by the incident at the Lugar Bar involving groups of people alleged to be under the influence of intoxication on the premises of said resto-bar… San Pedro Police Station custody for proper charges.” is part of the DCPO’s statement, through its spokeswoman PMaj. mom Theresita Plaza-Gaspan, read on July 2nd.

The statement added that the case is in isolation and that the bureau is doing its best to expedite the investigation into the crime.

“We therefore assure you all that this is an isolated case. We have these things under control, we will do everything we can to expedite the filing of the case as soon as possible,” the statement continued.

The suspect is currently being held in the San Pedro PNP and Baluan said a murder trial is being prepared against him. JPC
